Not So Big Showhouse Opens

Artist Rendering Copyright School Street

Sarah Susanka’s latest project in Libertyville, IL, that we have discussed numerous times here on the Breakfast Nook, opens today for tours.  The home will be open for six months and will showcase some of her best thinking on right sized spaces.  Our interview with her last month about the project was filled with great conversation and provided the chance to talk through some of the elements of the home that she was most enthusiastic about.  Her goals of being able to showcase a home for more than just one family is something that I believe will begin to have broad implications in the architectural community.  As she expressed to me in our interview, designing for one family is beneficial but the only people who can see the tangible reality of it are limited in their numbers.  The Showhouse allows her the chance for a greater number of people to see how the concept lives out.  The press release on PRWEB has a further discussion about the home, the hours of operation and the long term goal of having the house available for the public to see.
