California Bungalow In Australia Gets Makeover

As The Newcastle Herald writes, “There is a passage written in the hallway of David and Robyn Bailey’s Wallsend home: ‘Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.’ The words are as fitting to this house as the fancy calligraphy, just one of many beautiful little touches that create the whole breathtaking picture. But it wasn’t always this way. When David and Robyn bought the 89-year-old house just four years ago, it was a two-bedroom cottage, albeit lovingly kept in almost original condition. The couple set about doing the largely cosmetic work they thought it needed, living there for almost a year before embarking on a major extension.”  The great attention to keeping the original elements of the home while modernizing its living was the work of builder Leon Germon.  His work is beautiful and shows how working to keep original elements of a home can be rewarding and achievable with some hard work and elbow grease.
